I have been inspired… inspired to action.

I needed to go grocery shopping today but struggled with spending the money, again. I just went on Thursday and dispite my best efforts among the busy transitioning our life is in right now, spent more than I had wanted. {Sigh} So, as I reached for lunch behind all of this in my pantry cabinet…..

{Isn’t that pretty?}

…I thought surely I could create meals from the abundance of food that already fills my kitchen, a mini grocery store?

So I took inventory and found 5 decent meals to feed my family. Enough to last till Friday, my grocery shopping day. Whew, that’s better.

I used allrecipes to find some recipes using the ingredients I had on hand {suggested by a friend} and then plugged in those plus some others into our menu plan for the rest of the month. Here is our menu plan for this week…

Monday: DIY Tostada with Mexican Rice
Tuesday: Tortilla Bean Soup with Chicken
Wednesday: Enchildada-Quesidillas {made with homemade tortillas} with more Mexican Rice!
Thursday: Chicken and Rice, sweet peas, and buttered homemade bread
Friday: Sea Shell Supper, salad, and bread
Saturday: Homemade Pizza and salad
Sunday: Leftovers

I have high hopes of changing our eating habits, in being more intentional in feeding my family. Looking forward to researching. Until next time…

Bible Study:

Still in Philippians with my beloved even though we have not been as consistent, not sure what chapter we are in thinking 3.

Memory Verse:

As a family we are working on John 13:34-35 and I am still working on  memorizing and continuing to meditate on Philippians1:21-24 “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.”

Husband Encouragement:

Here I am really going to be working on “in humility counting him more significant than myself and looking not only to my own interests (which is rather easy), but also to the interest of my hard working God fearing husband” (Phil. 2:3-4)

His birthday is tomorrow! I am going to make a special breakfast for him.

Train Them Up:

Loving them enough to be consistent and diligent in discipline and training.

Personal Goals:

To find daily my JOY not in things, not in how I feel, not in my self image, not in perfection, not in well behaved children, a happy husband or even as silly as it may seem in the weather but only ever in God through Christ.

Also I seek to be more consistent in praying alone and with my family.

New Habit of the Month:

Getting dessed each morning before I do anything, even get my coffee! I have always been a pj girl.

Must Do:

Make necessary changes to our homeschool day.

I am not sure! lol I am so consumed with school right now I can hardly think of anything else.

Wednesday: Mil is taking us all out to eat for Rick’s birthday

Bible Study:

at the moment my husband and I are reading through Philippians, in my personal bible time I try to dig into some deeper understanding of which ever text we are going to be on next… you know to get a heads up on my theologian husband.

Memory Verse:

I am so unfaithful in this area and really need to make a better commitment to this vital spiritual discipline. As a family we are working on Luke 9:23 “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” and I am going to be memorizing and meditating on Philippians1:21-24 “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Train Them Up:

Last night my husband and I sat down and made a list of for each child of the things that we see they struggle with, that is hindering them in their walk with Christ and knowing Him and surrending to Him as the Lord of their lives. Yes they are all under 9 years of age, we believe seriously that it is from birth that we begin training our children in their sanctification and love of God. We will be intentionally be working with each precious child joyfully (because we have a tendency to do it with out it I added it as a reminder) through prayer, discipline, love, teaching and training. We will begin each morning in prayer over our list, over each child and over ourselves to be diligent, consistent and loving in our parenting.

Must Do:

Call Dr. for 6 week check up, Make dentist appointment for my extremely painful teeth, finish preschool bags, read my chapter for ladies bible study and finish ALL school preperations for next week!

Zone:

no zone this week just focusing on homeschool plans and new routines

Menu:

Monday: Chicken Pot Pie
Tuesday: Bible Study… not sure what I am making yet.
Wednesday: Black Bean Soup with Cornbread
Thursday: Spaghetti, Salad and Rolls
Friday: Burgers and Fries
Saturday: TBA 😉

Fun Things:

Josai is smiling and cooing!
Back to School Party this Thursday
Preschool Bag swap Thursday

3 Things I am Thankful for…

The changing leaves reminding me that change is good
That our cat after missing all day came home last night; even though she is a thorn in my side.
The begining of a new Season; in the weather and in life.

Oh it feels good to be back, thanks Sarah!

Monday mornings seem to come to soon and always to early! I never feel quiet ready for the but it is here and I find my delight in the fact that today is the day that the Lord has made and a undeserved favor that I might seek Him another day. Anyway, on to my Monday Meanderings….

Bible Study: Ealry mornings before my little Lightlings get up I am reading through the bible currently in Joshua 7, during breakfast we meditate together on a Psalm, this morning was chapter 8 “How Majestic is Your Name“, afternoons with Eli we are reading through Proverbs today is chapter 15 and then at some point I will study 1 Peter with my favorite commentator David Guzik, I am in the middle of chapter 2.

Memory Verses:

Family Verse… Luke 16:10One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.”

Personal Verse… 1 Corinthians 13:4-7Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

I know that I should have already memorized 1 Corinthians 13 but I have put it off way to long, it is time to saturate my heart with it’s words of love.

Husband Encouragement:

Make a good breakfast for him each morning and a nice meal each evening.
Relay a cheerful heart each day he walks in the door no matter what kind of day I have had…
Train the children in love and faithfulness and praise their accomplishments to him and only their faults if it is necessary and urgent and only with GRACE.
Weed the garden daily, keep the front yard clean and backyard straightened, have the house straightened and clean for him.
Ask him how I can help him this week and then follow through with it.

Train them Up in Love:

Remember this quote:

“Love should be the silver thread that runs through all your conduct. Kindness, gentleness, long-suffering, forbearance, patience, sympathy, a willingness to enter into childish troubles, a readiness to take part in childish joys,—these are the cords by which a child may be led most easily,—these are the clues you must follow if you would find the way to his heart.” J.C. Ryle, Duties of Parents

My goal for this week is to simply and radically love them through out each second of the day, from sun up to sun down dispite their sinful behaviors or my sinful emotions that well up with in me at times, keeping my heart focused on soul love. I am training them for heaven, for God not for this world or for any man!

Eli… be consistent in loving him and spending more time with him daily, improving our relationship. Encouraging his faith and teaching him to go hard after God’s heart through prayer and daily reading. Find his passions and pursue them with him in the Lord.

Kai… be patient with him as he learns self control and becoming a more responsibly boy. Figure out how to spend time with him each day encouraging his child like faith and taking time each day to teach him to respect adults who talk to him.

Amaris… spend tea time with her and train her to have a more loving heart towards her brothers and friends. Train for quick and cheerful obedience and sitting still during church and other acitivities.

Josai… pray with out ceasing for his faith and his health.

Personal Goals:

Seek HIM, not JOY. Seek HOLINESS zealously.
Learn to enjoy this season of my life and savor each moment with my 3 lightlings before Josai comes.
Rest in the Lord and cast all my cares on Him with my natural pregnancy anxieties.
Pregnancy excercises.
Be consistent with morning prayers with lightlings.

3 Things I am Thankful for:

Hymns, Hymns, Hymns… oh how they fill the hearts and the soul! There is nothing more precious than to walk in the room and witness your children sitting quietly around the room singing along to the hymn “No Not One”!!
Weekends away from the norm to experience a little extravagant time alone as a family… basking in His blessings of love and grace.
Crushed ice and bottled water 😉 a funny thing to be thankful for I know, but I am.

Quote of the Week:

“A true Christian must be no slave to fashion, if he would train his child for heaven. He must not be content to do things merely because they are the custom of the world; to teach them and instruct them in certain ways, merely because it is usual; to allow them to read books of a questionable sort, merely because everybody else reads them; to let them form habits of a doubtful tendency, merely because they are the habits of the day. He must train with an eye to his children’s souls. He must not be ashamed to hear his training called singular and strange. What if it is? The time is short,—the fashion of this world passeth away. He that has trained his children for heaven, rather than for earth,—for God, rather than for man, —- he is the parent that will be called wise at last. ” J.C. Ryle, Duties of Parents

Bible Study – Spending time each morning in the Old Testament, now in Joshua, Proverbs each afternoon with Eli and then sporatic Spirit led reading through out the day.

Memory VerseEphesians 5:15-17 “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

Husband Encouragement
First and always foremost to submit to him as to the Lord.
To put his needs above my own not matter how I feel!
Have laundry washed, folded and put away, entry way living spaces cleaned, clothes ready for next days work, coffee ready for next morning, kids fed, loved and happily and quietly awaiting his arrival and a joyful and inviting spirit when he walks in the door.
Ask him how his day was and allow him to relax before any demands are put on him, as well as not dumping my day on him until he asks.
Everyday have something special done and waiting for him…
To pray diligently for him through out the day, for him to be a light at work and for his faith and decisions.
To strive to have a meek and quiet spirit!! Speaking only words of encouragement and love.
Weed the garden daily for him and find some natural ways for pest control.

Train Them Up and Loving Them
Pray for them daily and specifically, leading them to the cross daily through loving them and turning their hearts toward their Father.
I am printing out and reading A 10 Poing Manifesto for Joyful Mothering
Eli: spend more quality time with him daily and listen to His gentle guidance in ways to encourage his growing faith. Listen to him more, he has a lot to say and I fear I all to often do not give him the listening ear he needs.
Kai: be consistent and gentle in training him to learn self control and find a set apart time to spend with him. Continue to encourage him to make eye contact when speaking to adults. Hug him more even with his resistence :).
Amaris: I am trying to teach her gently how to be modest at 3 ;), how to be a lady. Allow her more time to cook with me!
Josai: 74 give or take days till his arrival… praying for his faith and a health.
All: This week we will be consistently (I pray) training for prompt and cheerful obedience, cultivating courtesy habits and continuing our journey of a more work oriented daily life. We have a packed daily schedule working joyfully together, experiencing character building and an intertwined daily existence that is preparing all of our hearts closer to a servant… Seek for ways to serve others as well… It has been such a blessing!!
I want to hold their little hearts closely in these precious days of youth before they slip away, not taking a moment for granted!

Personal Goals
To be a faithful mother and wife at home striving for holiness… remembering that I must decrease so He can increase.
To seek insight like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, so that I will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:4-5
To PRAY intentionally and passionately daily.
Walk at least 3 times this week, do pregnancy exercises, eat healthy small meals, watch sugar intake and caffiene consumption.
Enjoy my 4th pregnancy and trust God with all the details of the birth!
Write in my journal daily

A new day that is never promised!

Encouraging Quote:

A minister may speak the truth as it is in Jesus, clearly, forcibly, unanswerably; but if he does not speak it in love, few souls will be won. Just so you must set before your children their duty,—command, threaten, punish, reason, — but if affection be wanting in your treatment, your labour will be all in vain. J.C. Ryle, Duties of Parents

My Prayer
Oh Lord teach me to number my days! To remember daily that I must humble myself if I so seek to obtain your grace and power! You must increase and I must decrease! Remind me that my life is a vapor a meer shadow… that I may walk carefully through each moment making the best use of my time of Your time… remind me Lord that the salvation of my chlidren is Yours, that conversion is a supernatural work of the Spirit not by my good works and faithfulness. Keep me on my knees for their enternal souls surrending them daily up to You, grant me faithfulness as a mother to seek You and walk in Your grace.

I am not sure how it happened but I guess in my blog move I somehow left a dear sweet encouraging friend behind. Sarah from In Light of the Truth. I providentially stumbled across her encouraging blog late last night and found a bright ray of inspiration in her Monday Meanderings and so thought I would join to bring my mind and heart together at the begining of the week in all of the things that I desire to accomplish, walking faithfully, making the best use of my time both physically and mentally. Thanks Sarah!
